Dreams Into Action

We had a great release show at the Back Room last month. Thanks again to everyone who came out! I really appreciated seeing so many old and new friends there to support me as I put my first album out into the vast musical universe. Here are some video clips of the show:

Before playing our last song, Let It Come To You, I shared a few words of wisdom with the audience about what this album-making experience has taught me. I suggested to everyone that if they have any goals, dreams, or desires that they have been harboring – to just jump in and take action toward making them a reality. And I would say the same to anyone reading this.

It took me a long time to get the wheels in motion to make this album. I had a lot of reasons for delaying action on my dreams, but I think the main one was that I was waiting until I was “ready”, until conditions in my life were “just right” before diving in and doing it. Eventually I realized that none of us are ever totally prepared to go after what we’re searching for, and that’s where the adventure lies. We just have to get started and figure it out as we go along. So last year I just decided to take a shot and make an album, no matter what it took and no matter how it turned out. Fortunately it turned out great (in my humble opinion!), but I also learned that taking the chance was more important than the result.

So if there’s anything you’ve been thinking about doing, trying, creating, or changing – I’d encourage you to do something today toward making it happen. It doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to happen. As I told the audience, we only have one life so we might as well create the one we want. The possibilities are endless.

Hope to see you at the next show. If you haven't checked out my album yet, you can find it here, or stream it on my Bandcamp page. Shares are always appreciated!

Take care,
Graham

P.S. Just after writing this post, this was the fortune I got in my fortune cookie. Coincidence?:

Debut album coming in 2017

I am very excited to announce that I have begun work on my first album, to be released later in 2017! This project has been a dream of mine since I moved to California as a hopeful 20-year-old, many(!) years ago. After numerous twists and turns in my life and career, the time felt right to make the dream a reality. I appreciate the support that all of you have given me and look forward to having some recorded music to share with you soon.

I have been working since January with the fantastic producer/musician Gawain Mathews, at his studio in San Pablo, California. We've been making great progress developing and exploring the possibilities of my music. The album figures to be a reflection of both my life and the capricious nature of our shared human experience. The ups and downs, the highs and lows, the lessons learned – I have tried to incorporate these and more into this collection of songs.

No release date has been set, but I’m aiming to have the album out by late summer/early fall of this year. Thanks again for your support!
